Sinziana Ravini

In her essay "The Seduction of the Absolute", Sinziana Ravini describes how the contemporary art world is increasingly organized around a desire for purity, clarity, and totalitarian moral positioning, becomes “a theatre of the absolute.” This same tendency appears in the reflections gathered here on artists, curators, and institutions in Sweden. Art is pulled between demands for relevance and the need for complexity, between political action and aesthetic experience, between integration into society and ­ re­ sistance to it. This essay follows these tensions, asking what can still be said, done, and imagined within today’s conditions.
