Marthe Ramm Fortun

Marthe Ramm Fortun lives and works in Oslo. She is a current resident at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and teaches at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo. Fortun creates site-specific performances based on improvisation. She studied at New York University as well as Camberwell College of Arts (London) and Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (London) and has shown her work in a broad variety of contexts and institutions in Norway and abroad, including the Munch Museum in Oslo, Stavanger Kunstmuseum, KW Institute of Contemporary Art in Berlin, BOZAR Brussels, Performa 13 and MoMA PS1 in New York, as well as Gladstone Gallery in Brussels. Fortun's performances often interface with bystanders in public spaces, testing thresholds of boundaries, sometimes resulting in both memorizing discomfort and humor, and first and foremost the imagination of other possible societies.
