Carin Franzén is a literature researcher at Stockholm University. In her work, she combines psychoanalytic theory with discourse theoretical perspectives to show the complex relationship between literary forms of subjectivity and cultural hegemonies. She devotes herself to literature from both recent and older periods in a general European tradition. Her most recently published book is När vi talar om oss själva. Nedslag i subjektivitetens historia från Montaigne till Norén (When we talk about ourselves. Impact in the history of subjectivity from Montaigne to Norén), Ariel 2018 and Fritänkandet: kvinnliga libertiner och en annan humanism (Freethinking – Female libertines and another humanism), Glänta 2004. She is also a member of the editorial board for the Swedish journal of culture and psychoanalysis Divan.
